TEHRAN (PEDCO) – PetroIran Development Company (PEDCO)'s subsurface project manager at the Mansourabad oil field announced the successful drilling and completion of the seventh well in the field, despite operational complexities and challenges.
Mehdi Omidvar, the head of the subsurface section at Mansourabad, stated that the continuous 24/7 efforts of the company's specialists led to the successful drilling and completion of the seventh well, adhering to the scheduled timeline.
Omidvar emphasized the strategic importance of this development, highlighting that the Mansourabad oil field's production goal aligns with the National Iranian South Oil Company's maintenance and production plans and addresses the current national demand.
Consequently, the development of this field is a priority for the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
He further elaborated that out of the 12 committed wells, seven have been drilled so far in the Asmari reservoir of the Mansourabad field.
The drilling of the seventh well, which reached a depth of 2,825 meters, was successfully completed despite the unique geological conditions and significant operational challenges.
These included severe mud losses, borehole instability, shale swelling, and pipe sticking.
The well was drilled with a 5-inch liner and a completion string.
Omidvar noted that overcoming these challenges required timely technical and operational decisions and maximizing the use of internal resources within the PetroIran Development Group.
The drilling of the 8.5-inch borehole in the reservoir section was completed as per the schedule.
The head of the subsurface section emphasized that the significant progress in drilling the Mansourabad oil field wells and the strategic direction from PetroIran's management, in collaboration with the project client, would ensure the achievement of the production targets from this field, thereby contributing to the country's oil production capacity.
