ANDIMESHK (PEDCO) -- The Kabood oil field development project reached a significant milestone as it celebrated the commissioning of five new wells in its efforts to enhance production.

Senior figures from the Iranian oil industry joined the event, emphasizing the importance of utilizing domestic resources and expertise.

Alireza Daneshi, addressing the audience during the ceremony, expressed his gratitude for the collective efforts of the country's oil industry.

He highlighted the transformation that took place in the country's approach since the inception of the Thirteenth Government, focusing on internal capabilities and striving for beneficial change.

"In the first six months of the Thirteenth Government, we swiftly executed our plans, setting new records and preparing ourselves to return to pre-sanctions conditions," Daneshi said.

The CEO of the National Iranian South Oilfields Company (NISOC), responsible for the Development of 28 Selected Reservoirs initiative, underscored the importance of revitalizing underdeveloped fields like Kabood, which had been neglected in the previous administration.

He continued, "The Kabood oil field, with its Bangestan and Asmari reservoirs, was one of the less developed fields. With the assistance of domestic contractors and equipment, we included it in our work plan.

Within this framework, six new wells were scheduled for drilling, five of which have now become operational." Daneshi also shed light on the Kabood field's unique characteristics.

"Kabood produces high-quality, light crude oil with lower costs compared to other regions, making it an attractive choice for petrochemical applications," he explained.

Emphasizing the Importance of Local Capacity and Resources Daneshi discussed the importance of harnessing local capacity and Iranian-made products in this endeavor, noting that approximately 99.5% of the project's production utilized domestic resources.

He also mentioned that the project had an estimated investment of around 700 billion Iranian rials. He pointed out that last year, Iran held its first-ever auction for the collected gases at the regional level, and it is now essential to plan for the collection of associated gases at the Kabood field, a crucial step in utilizing this valuable resource.

Optimizing Potential, Local Workforce, and Equipment Razi Jalali, the Economic Deputy of the provincial governor, expressed his happiness at the scientific progress of Iranian youth and how their expertise, in combination with their youthful energy, has allowed Iran to erase the footprints of foreign countries in the oil industry.

He applauded the employment opportunities created by the Kabood field project, aligning with the "Production Growth" slogan, and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to create more wealth for the province.

Nima Baqersayi, CEO of Petro Sahel Ofogh Kish Co. (PESOK), who was involved in the project, highlighted the project's capacity to maximize production.

He recognized the role of local talent and the use of domestic equipment and products as essential components of this project's success.

The Kabood oil field is located approximately 45 kilometers northwest of Andimeshk, in the northern part of Iran's Khuzestan province. It was discovered in 1971, and oil production began in 2004.

The field's strategic location and the continued development will contribute to Iran's oil industry and further strengthen the country's position in the global energy market.
