TEHRAN (PEDCO) -- The CEO of Petroiran Development Company Limited (PEDCO) outlined the technological needs of his company, calling on knowledge-based companies to offer solutions for corrosion in offshore facilities.

Sepehr Sepehri, speaking on Sunday, February 16, and on the first day of a gathering of knowledge-based companies and startups in the oil industry, underlined the importance of corrosion in the oil industry, especially in offshore facilities, and outlined the technological needs of PEDCO.

According to Sepehri, the following are PEDCO’s main technical needs: advanced industrial anti-corrosion and anti-wear coatings, development of new technologies related to wastewater treatment of desalination units of upstream industries and production of produced water, purification of soil and groundwater contaminated with hydrocarbons, heat transfer nanofluids, metal nanofluids and nanomembranes, robots to inspect process pipelines, utility and industrial wastewater treatment systems, design and implementation of hydraulic fracturing operations and design and development of technological innovations to advance the digital transformation project of PEDCO.

He said: "The repair sector in the future of Iran's oil industry would be more important than before, and in the meantime, the issue of corrosion and measures to deal with it should be considered more than ever."

Sepehri said PEDCO had so implemented more than €7 billion worth of projects in the offshore and onshore sectors over the last two decades. "This company seeks short-term and medium-term solutions with a long-term approach and by using the capabilities of knowledge-based enterprises."

The PEDCO CEO considered signing of long-term contracts and taking into account the interests of both parties (employer and contractor) necessary to support the activities of companies active in the oil industry, and noted that domestic companies could be instrumental for the country's economy, especially in the face of the sanctions. The three-day gathering of knowledge-based companies and startups active in the oil industry began on February 16 at the International Conference Center of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI).
