TEHRAN (PEDCO) -- The CEO of Drilling International Limited (DCI) announced the success of the DCI-1 Drilling Rig installation operation at Ilam 1 Platform in the Sivand and Esfand fields’ development project.
Hamid Reza Saghafi said the rig was installed besides Ilam 1 Platform after three years with the efforts of DCI management and personnel.
Technically, the relocation of DCI-1 Platform could be considered as a high-risk deployment operation, because the mechanical behavior of the bed was unknown, and there were difficult conditions during mooring, he argued.
The DCI CEO said: "Due to the spread of the coronavirus in the country, operational restrictions were imposed in the implementation phase in a rigorous process by examining the weather conditions and taking all the measures needed to transfer only necessary forces and equipment."
Saghafi said: "DCI-1 Drilling Rig will be installed at a new well (E1P6) to increase oil production from this field which would compensate for the shortage of gas feedstock required by NGL Siri to some extent."
