TEHRAN (PEDCO) –Drilling Company International Limited (DCI) has developed a vertical agitator for drilling mud of up to 155 pound cubic feet (PCF) for the first time in Iran.
Hamid Reza Saghafi, the DCI CEO, told a press conference about the agitator, saying, this equipment with a capacity of 30 hp is designed and built for explosion-proof environments.
The weight of each agitator is about 700 kg and can be used for all mud tanks in drilling rigs; vertical agitators have more engineering complexities in their gearbox and design and take up less space than horizontal models.
According to him, other features of this device include the ability to change the distance of the impellers and also the design based on the coefficient of 2.8 S.F to work in harsh conditions and at an ambient temperature of up to 60 degrees Celsius.
These agitators are already operating in the DCI-1 drilling rig.
Saghafi said DCI decided to localize manufacturing of the device given the existing demand for the item and the embargoes against the country which prevented import of the agitators. The localized models are being produced at one fourth of the costs of the foreign models.
